ITS operates at over 90 facilities with roughly 3,100 employees. We hold long-standing relationships with all major North American railroads, including BNSF, CN, CSX, KCS, KCSM, NS, Triple Crown and UP.

The Director, Total Rewards is responsible for implementing a Total Rewards, Performance & Productivity Framework and a Compensation Philosophy, incorporating best industry practices to support the ITS ConGlobal organization.  He/She will lead the Total Rewards Center of Excellence (COE) and will partner with Field and Corporate HR leaders and business leaders to implement and drive standard processes and procedures around annual compensation and benefit planning.  This includes the development of incentive schemes and innovative recognition programs, as well as developing a job evaluation system and an enhanced performance management process.  S/He will also oversee and supervise the Benefit Administration process.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Develop innovative, cost effective reward and incentive programs, which are relevant to the business needs and complexities of ITS ConGlobal, ensuring alignment and competitiveness.
  • Drive the Salary review process, compensation and benefits benchmarking, assigning salary budgets/ pay ranges and managing rewards execution. 
  • Implement a new performance management system, establishing processes and practices of setting, measuring and reviewing objectives and goals at the Organization, Terminal, and individual level. 
  • Supervise and oversee the design, implementation, and administration of the company's health/welfare and 401(k) benefit programs and ensure that the company is in compliance with all compensation and benefits laws and regulations. 
  • Develop and implement innovative recognition programs to enhance motivation and productivity of employees, customizing for Exempt/Non-Exempt and Hourly employees. 
  • Be responsible for the Job Evaluation framework / Grading.
  • Manage and negotiate with brokers and third-party solution providers. 
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Business leaders to understand their issues related to compensation and benefits. 
  • Provide education and counsel to HR Business Partners, Line Managers, and Talent Acquisition regarding compensation issues, evaluating new positions, job bands, and grade levels. 
  • Develop and sustain total rewards communication initiatives. 
  • Reinforce a performance culture with differentiated rewards. 
  • Support M & A activities as they relate to benefits and compensation. 
  • Understand the complexity and uniqueness of business. Embrace cultural and individual differences with empathy. 
  • Establish a continuous performance and quality improvement effort with the help of a robust monitoring and reporting system. Regularly report the status of performance improvement efforts and impacts.

  • Previous experience managing change and uncertainty with an organization, while showing the ability to anticipate and respond to future changes and opportunities.
  • High energy level and a positive attitude. Comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day tactical activities.
  • Proven ability to design compensation and benefit programs with a frontline workforce within a Union and Non-Union environment.
  • Ability to communicate and act with a high level of passion and enthusiasm, and be energized by the opportunity to drive HR programs.
  • Proven project and time management skills with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required. MBA or MSA preferred. 
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant Human Resources experience, with a minimum of 5 years in Total Rewards/ Performance Management. 
  • Proven ability to gauge effectiveness of the organization's compensation and benefits programs and translate data into solutions to continually improve programs and practices. 
  • Demonstrated experience in compensation plan design and implementation. 
  • In depth functional knowledge of contemporary and best HR practices and processes in the area of performance and reward management 
  • A creative approach to problem solving, with a humble, team oriented and optimistic attitude. 
  • Ability to think strategically and objectively. Effectively translates data into actionable insights, strategies and financial plans. 
  • Leadership skills balanced with a willingness to play a 'hands-on' role with key projects. 
  • Ability to effectively translate complex information into clear and effective messages. 
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with associates at all levels. 
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills including the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way and to tailor key messages and presentation style to multiple audiences.
